--Monadnock Kitty Rescue & Adoption Wins Community Partner Award

Monadnock Kitty Rescue and Adoption has received the President's Community Partner Award from Campus Compact for New Hampshire for it's partnership with Franklin Pierce University. This award is giving in honor of Kitty Rescue's service and commitment to the community and it's continued relationship with FPU student volunteers.

The winning non-profit organization is chosen for its record of enhancing the quality of life in the community in meaningful and measurable ways and engaging in the development of sustained, reciprocal partnerships with a college or university.

Kitty Rescue and Adoption was founded in 2002 as a grassroots initiative in the center of Jaffrey, NH. The founders of the shelter contacted the Community Service Office at Franklin Pierce nearly 8 years ago in search of student volunteers. With a cage of kittens in tow, they set up in the Campus Center and began recruiting student volunteers, impressing students with their eagerness to address this important issue.

Since then, our partnership has become one of the most popular service programs at the University. When Kitty Rescue opened their doors to the hundreds of homeless cats in the surrounding towns, they could not have foreseen the huge impact the shelter and its staff would have on students at Franklin Pierce University. Kitty Rescue and Adoption is more than just an animal shelter. In the words of one volunteer, "It is a place where volunteers feel welcomed and proud to be helping such an amazing all volunteer organization. It is a place where people feel a sense of comfort and belonging. It is a place many students refer to as their second home."

I AM KITTY RESCUE
Stacy

"Hello, my name is Cheddar. I am one of the lucky feral kitties who live at KRA. My life is beyond great! I have lots of friends to play and snuggle with, cage-free living is fun and I don¹t have to worry about catching my next meal. I am grateful every day for the love, care and kindness the volunteers give me even though it¹s hard for me to show it. After all, we ferals do have an image to maintain!?
